Sony Music Enters the World of NFT and Metaverse
Music industry giant Sony Music Entertainment has filed a trademark application for NFT and the metaverse, according to trademark attorney Mike Kondoudis.
According to the filing by Sony, the music tracks are also planned to be released as NFT.
Another dossier includes entertainment and marketing services for artists and music recordings.
Although NFTs are similar to cryptocurrencies based on blockchain, their existence as artworks, video and audio recordings puts these assets in a different place. NFTs are contributing to the transformation of many industries along with the music industry.
The music industry’s interest in NFTs is growing. The famous rock band Kings of Leon has the title of being the first band to release an album as NFT.
Similarly, Muse released their album “Will of the People” as NFT.
Another artist, The Weeknd, has also partnered with Binance.
