Stolen Funds Seized in Axie Infinity Attack

Norwegian Police, Axie Infinityseized about $6 million stolen in the attack.

Authorities said in a statement that police had access to the stolen funds. Funds will be given back to people affected by the attack for reimbursement.

Norwegian Police Access Stolen Funds in Axie Infinity Attack

Norwegian Police Axie Infinity managed to recover the funds stolen in the attack. After tracking the funds, the police seized $5.9 million.

The seized funds will be used to reimburse users affected by the attack and to prevent North Korea from financing its nuclear weapons program.

Authorities seized funds from the Axie Infinity hack last year, according to a press release from the Norwegian National Economic and Environmental Crimes Investigation and Prosecution Agency (Økokrim). Authorities announced in a statement that they had seized $5.9 million in crypto assets linked to the Axie Infinity Ronin Bridge hack.

Prosecutor Bender said:

“Økokrim is very good at tracking money. This case demonstrates that we have a great capacity to track money on the Blockchain even where criminals use advanced methods.”

According to Bender’s statements, Økokrim acted with the US Department of Justice and the FBI to track down the stolen cryptocurrencies.
