Payments giant Stripe has enabled USDC stablecoin payments for freelancers, according to an announcement released today.
Circle co-founder Jeremy Allaire said that USDC is an inclusive way to send money to people around the world.

In countries with low access to the financial system, freelancers have great difficulty getting paid.
For this reason, Stripe’s addition of USDC support is of great importance for freelancers living in such countries.
According to Stripe, roughly 4.4 billion people in the world may have the opportunity to receive payments in USDC right now.
Nikhil Chandhok, Circle’s chief product officer, suggested that this is an extremely important use case provided by USDC.
Although the California-based company enabled USDC payments in April, the service was initially only available for a select group of Twitter developers.
Jeff Garzik, one of the early developers of Bitcoi, said that stablecoins are “a useful crypto killer app for consumers” following the Stripe news.
The payments giant allows various crypto companies, such as crypto exchanges and wallet providers, to use its payment infrastructure.
The company first provided Bitcoin support in 2015 and was the first company to do so at that time. However, this feature was removed in 2018.
