However, the developers of the meme-based cryptocurrency Dogecoin (DOGE) have found a way to send the first DOGE block to the moon.

DOGE developers ‘inevitable360’ and Justin Scerini have added a Dogecoin wallet containing the NFT of the Dogecoin Genesis Block to NASA’s Artemis I registry. Inevitable360 made the following statement on the subject on its Twitter account:

A reminder of what me and JustinScerini did to the entire Dogecoin community a few months ago. Along with some Doges, a wallet, now Dogecoin BlockChain with Genesis block, a DogeCoin NFT will travel to the moon inside Nasa Artemis 1 in a few hours.

Artemis I is a lunar orbiter mission planned by NASA that aims to test the rocket’s ability to propel Orion capsules into Earth orbit and the Moon. Earlier this year, NASA began inviting people to display their names in space via a flash drive to be launched on the Artemis I mission.

“We have finished collecting names for Artemis I,” the NASA website says. “We’re working on loading them onto the Orion spacecraft.” A total of 3,391,118 boarding passes have been collected so far, including the Dogecoin Wallet included by the developers. The long-awaited lunar mission was scheduled to launch on Monday. But it was delayed after a hydrogen leak was discovered on the ship.

At press time, DOGE was trading at $0.06066, according to CoinMarketCap data. Meme coin has lost 4.33% on a daily basis and 11.31% on a weekly basis. Famous for pumping Elon Musk, Dogecoin hit an all-time high of $0.7376 around May 2021. However, later the market saw sharp price drops. Currently, the meme coin is about 92% off its peak.
