Google Cloud announced its collaboration with the market’s largest metaverse coin and project. The partnership is closely related to the GameFi industry.
Google will work with this metaverse coin project
Sky Mavis, the team behind the Axie Infinity game, has added Google to its growing list of companies to help secure it. Accordingly, Google Cloud has agreed to run volatile nodes on the game-centric Ronin network.
cryptocoin.com As you follow, Ronin Blockchain was the victim of a historic hack in March. So far they have managed to get back about 10% of the funds.
Today, Sky Mavis announced that it has reached an agreement with Google Cloud that will allow it to run a node operator on Ronin. As a result, Google Cloud will help secure Ronin Blockchain and process transactions. Ruma Balasubramanian, Managing Director of Southeast Asia at Google Cloud, said in a statement:
Sky Mavis is a powerful example of how the cloud can enable Blockchain technologies to create innovation and value for individuals. Alongside Searce as our implementation partner, we look forward to working with Sky Mavis to accelerate the product roadmap and grow the Ronin network with secure infrastructure. We’re also excited about the possibilities that can emerge from this latest collaboration, whether it’s fun experiences for users or new business models in game distribution.
Google will play an important role in the security of Axie Infinity
Axie Infinity lost $552 million worth of cryptocurrencies in the March attack. Now, Google Cloud will double the scoreboard to become the 18th validator in Ronin. In this attack, five out of nine validators were compromised using hacked private keys. The US Treasury blamed the North Korean state-sponsored hacking group Lazarus for misconduct.
Sky Mavis aims to reach a total of at least 21 validators for the Ronin. It also added firms like Web3 game guild startup Yield Guild Games, blockchain analytics firms Nansen and DappRadar, and leading metaverse investor and game publisher Animoca Brands.
Google Cloud has previously partnered with other Blockchain and ledger-based networks, validated transactions for video platform startup Theta Labs, and joined Hedera Hashgraph’s board of directors. Also, Google Cloud said in May that it has set up a Web3 team to power Blockchain applications.
Axie Infinity is a monster battle game built around NFT. The Ethereum game has generated more than $4 billion in NFT sales to date. The play-to-win economy of the game has been struggling since late 2021.
