Uniswap Approves Wormhole and Axelar Bridges

The Uniswap community has approved Wormhole and Axelar bridges for cross-chain deployments.

The Uniswap committee chose two bridges for possible inter-chain distribution. Wormhole and Axelar were the bridges approved by the committee.

Uniswap Community Votes for Bridges

Decentralized exchange Uniswap has selected two bridges for potential cross-chain deployments. The Uniswap Foundation’s Bridge Evaluation Committee has selected Wormhole and Axelar as two viable bridges for potential cross-chain deployments. In January 2023, Uniswap initially chose Wormhole as its preferred bridge, but was marred by controversy over the issue. In March, a committee was formed to explore and recommend a way forward, and this process is now complete.

The Committee considers that the Wormhole and Axelar bridges are currently suitable by the DAO to manage governance messages in future cross-chain deployments, but advises the community to continually review these bridge providers and others. The committee also noted that a multi-bridge architecture might probably be a better fit for Uniswap, but such cross-chain swaps are not quite ready yet.

The committee has also reviewed cross-chain protocols such as LayerZero, Celer, DeBridge, and Multichain. Multichain has encountered a number of technical issues over the past few weeks and has lost contact with its CEO for a time. DeBridge, on the other hand, launched a trading platform for local chain-to-chain exchanges today.

The Uniswap committee includes the co-founder and CTO of many blockchain projects, including OtterSec’s CTO, Zellic’s CTO, and HashCloak’s CEO.
