Universal Music Group to Stream NFT on LimeWire’s Marketplace

Announcing its Algorand-based marketplace in March, LimeWire announced that it has signed with the famous record label Universal Music Group.

The agreement will allow many label-affiliated artists to publish tokenized digital collections through the LimeWire marketplace.

Universal Music Group includes world-famous artists such as Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, The Rolling Stones, U2, BTS, Chris Stapleton, The Weeknd, Abba and Elton John. While the deal does not mean that these artists will definitively release an NFT collection, they will have the opportunity to do so.

In April, LimeWire announced it had raised $10.4 million in a token sale led by Kraken Ventures, Arrington Capital and GSR, with participation from other firms such as Crypto.com Capital and musician Deadmau5’s 720Mau5 fund.

According to the announcement, LimeWire plans to launch its “official launch campaign” later this month, followed by the NFT marketplace soon.
