Ethereum ( ETH) co-founder Vitalik Buterin discussed the main problems in the network and addressed improvement methods.
According to Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, centralization of nodes is one of the biggest problems facing the Ethereum network. In order to increase the performance in the network, Buterin stated that he aims to make the nodes cheaper and easier to operate.
Speech to Korea Blockchain Week
Currently, the majority of 5,901 active Ethereum nodes are run through centralized web providers such as Amazon Web Services (AWS). Additionally, many experts claim that it exposes the Ethereum blockchain to a central point of failure.
Speaking at Korea Blockchain Week, Buterin outlined six key issues that need to be addressed to solve centralization. However, he described the node issue as “a big piece of the puzzle”, citing cheap and facilitating node services so that the long-term performance of the Ethereum network can be positive. Also, Ethereum co-founder said:
“To run a node today requires hundreds of gigabytes of data. With stateless clients, you can basically run a node from scratch. In the long term, there is a plan to maintain fully verified Ethereum nodes that you can literally use on your phone.”
