ERC-5773 is a token standard designed for NFTs. Also known as MultiAsset, this standard expands the viewability limit of digital assets.
What is ERC-5773?
ERC-5773, also known as MultiAsset, is designed for NFTs to enable context-dependent information output. This means that the asset displayed may vary depending on how the token is accessed. For example, a 3D avatar may be displayed if the NFT is accessed in-game, while the PNG entity will be displayed if the same NFT is accessed from a marketplace.
An NFT can have multiple assets (outputs) which can be any file type. These entities are not interconnected. Assets can be ordered by the NFT holder at any time, but can only be changed, updated, added or removed when both the coin holder and issuer mutually agree.
Potential Use Cases
- Cross Metaverse Compatibility:The ERC-5773 standard supports a range of metaverse ecosystems, allowing assets associated with NFTs to be used in different games and platforms.
- Multimedia Output:An NFT can take a variety of representations such as PDF, MP3, or other formats, depending on the software or platform used for ebooks or other media types.
- Media Redundancy:Duplicate metadata files can be included in decentralized storage platforms for improved metadata durability and referenced information.
- NFT Development: Users, miners, or other pre-approved assets, an example of the capabilities of an NFT associated assets token standard (ERC-5773) is a cosmetic item for a game that can have multiple attached assets covering different games and various cosmetic items. All in all, it can turn into a timeless useful NFT.
