Andrew Yang, January 13, 1975 is an entrepreneur and politician from New York, USA. He is the son of immigrant parents from Taiwan. He is the founder of Venture For America (VFA), which was founded to create jobs in US cities.
Andrew Yang’s father works in the research division of IBM and General Electric. His mother is an artist with a degree in statistics. Andrew attended boarding school in New Hampshire, the Philip Exeter Academy. He also attended the Graduation program at Brown University. Later, Yang earned his JD from Columbia Law School.
From 2000 to 2009, Andrew Yang served as a manager in various venture companies and venture capital finance companies. After founding Venture For America in 2011, the Barack Obama administration selected Yang as the ‘Champion of Change’ in 2012 and the ‘Presidential Ambassador for Global Entrepreneurship’ in 2015. He wrote the books ‘Smart People Should Build Things’ in 2014 and ‘The War on Normal People’ in 2018.
Andrew Yang started his candidacy over the Democratic Party for the 2020 US presidential election on November 6, 2017. In the first months of 2009, he started to gain momentum in his presidential candidacy by appearing in various popular shows. The New York Times described Yang as ‘The Internet’s Favorite Candidate’. Yang is known for his popularity on online platforms.
Yang’s core policy is to contribute $1,000 per month to every US citizen over the age of 18 in the form of a universal basic income, called the ‘Freedom Share’. Two other important policies are “Health Insurance for All” and “Human Centered Capitalism”. Andrew Yang has provided information on more than 160 policy recommendations on his website. Andrew Yang lives in New York with his wife and two children.
