Wintermute, a prominent crypto market maker, has made a significant move with its Singaporean derivatives trading branch, Wintermute Asia, by unveiling a new contract for difference (CFD) that is linked to the GMCI USA Select Index. The GMCI USA Select Index serves as a benchmark that reflects the performance of leading cryptocurrency projects that have established legal entities within the United States, taking into account their circulating supply. Among the various assets tracked by this index, payments-focused cryptocurrency XRP, Solana’s SOL, and the popular memecoin DOGE hold the highest weightings. Other notable cryptocurrencies included in the index are ADA, AVAX, LINK, UNI, HBAR, NEAR, LTC, and APT. Since the early November election victory of Donald Trump, the index has seen an impressive increase of over 160%.
This carefully constructed index not only provides a reliable benchmark for assessing investment strategies focused on U.S. protocols but also enhances trading flexibility. The introduction of the CFD by Wintermute allows traders to either long (buy) or short (sell) the index, thereby enabling them to profit from both rising and falling valuations without the necessity of owning the underlying components of the index.
